BIO

My healing journey began in the late 90’s when, as a single parent, I needed to provide for my family and sought a career that aligned with my core beliefs and values.

Becoming an herbalist provided the flexibility I needed to homeschool my children while also serving my clients. As I worked with clients who were already using natural supplements, I later embraced the opportunity to further support them by joining the team at our local health food store. This role allowed me to collaborate with others to better serve our community’s health needs.

Through my herbal training, I was introduced to Traditional Indigenous Practices, Ayurveda, and Shamanism. I also explored non-ordinary states of consciousness through drum journeying, dreamwork, plant and animal spirit attunement, and learned about death, dying, and coma states.

My experience with addiction in my family and my healing journey as a 'child of an alcoholic' led me to discover Gabor Maté's work and a new approach to healing addiction. His methods resonated with me deeply. When a friend returned from a week-long retreat with him on addiction recovery, I was eager to hear all about it. It sounded amazing! But when she mentioned there was an option at the end of the training to stay for the weekend and experience Ayahuasca, my reaction shifted to total judgment. In that moment, I dismissed everything I had been learning as useless. I mean, really, how could someone in the field of addiction recovery offer drugs?!

Years later, in 2019, people began approaching me with questions about psychedelics, particularly Ayahuasca. What did I know about it? They were wanting to go to Peru and try it. I figured I’d better learn more. Plus, I was curious. I was still reading Dr. Maté’s books. Something about his work had me hooked.

By ‘coincidence,’ an acquaintance mentioned Michael Pollan during a chat and raved about his book and a psychedelic conference they had just attended. I borrowed How to Change Your Mind and read it over Christmas. My perspective on psychedelics completely shifted, and I began my search to learn more.

I found a training program online that had its roots in addiction recovery and also covered psychedelics. It started in 2 weeks! I had my first class in February of 2020. Luckily the training was online because a few weeks later the whole world was in a pandemic lockdown! It was an incredible time to be learning to navigate the discomfort of change.

After I received my certification, I began my journey as a psychedelic integration coach. My personal healing journey paralleled my coaching journey. I met the medicines to learn about them and, they met me to facilitate the healing I needed.

Everything I’ve learned in my career as an herbalist has come together to create a supportive foundation for facilitating psychedelic integration. Through my healing journeys, the medicines have shown me where my strengths are. They’ve challenged me to integrate shadow aspects of myself, face the challenges before me, and embrace the gifts I’ve been given in this lifetime.

As a daughter, sister, mother, daughter of a first responder, single mother, caretaker of a chronically ill mother, and supporter of a father who died from addiction, I have navigated grief, loss, death and dying, depression, anxiety, major life transitions, and the breakdown of inherited family patterns and beliefs. These experiences have brought me to where I am now—living a more fulfilling life, understanding my purpose, being of service to myself and others, and continuing on this beautiful, challenging, and never-ending path of healing that forever leads me closer to my authentic self.

I live on Vancouver Island in BC, Canada where I grew up in the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish Peoples.

I am dedicated to learning about the roots and origins of human suffering, our practices of isolation, and our journey home to each other. I humbly serve those who cross my path on their healing journey.

“It is an honor to be of service to people on their journey of personal transformation. I am deeply moved by the power of engaging with them and witnessing their growth and change. As their coach, their wins are my wins, and their losses are my losses. Together, we navigate the highs and lows. I’m grateful to be a part of this journey with them.”

“I was a professional until our first child was born, then became a fulltime at-home mom.  I started to suffer depression when our oldest child went away to college.  I was able to keep it at bay with the busyness of our youngest chiId.  When our youngest went away to college, the depression set in quickly.  I was experiencing loss of purpose, motivation and my marriage was suffering.  I was what I call, “at the ground floor of suicide.”  Not yet ready to commit, but starting with the belief, “Why am I here anymore?” And thinking it would be better for me and everyone if I wasn’t here anymore.

I came to (psychedelic) medicine by a suggestion from my husband.  He had a connection to a retreat center, and I was willing to give it a try.  I felt this was my last hope.  After an initial conversation with the owner of the center, he wanted me to work with an outside integration coach to start to lay the groundwork for the medicine journey.  That is how I began the actual journey.  I had no expectations; this was what needed to be done to be able to attend the center.  I had done traditional therapy before, but integration therapy is a whole different experience, in an amazing way.

This coaching was invaluable.  My coach, Janice, and I worked for two and a half months unraveling all the trauma I experienced to prepare me to accept the medicine and all its benefits.  If it were not for the work before the medicine, I don’t think the medicine would have been so life changing for me.

My time and journey at the center was more than life changing and to have an integration coaching session when I returned home was invaluable.  There is no other way I could have processed my (psychedelic) medicine journey experience.  I would have never understood or found my new purposes in life without the pre and post integration coaching.

I am truly grateful to the owner of the retreat center for getting me connected with an outside integration coach for pre and post medicine.  And even MORE grateful for Janice, who has had a profound effect on my life. She has helped to change the trajectory of my life in remarkable ways. Today, post medicine, I have newfound purposes and ways to manage my life in a healthy and productive way.”

“From the first interaction with Janice I knew that I had come home. She threw me a lifeline at a time when the road had become particularly bumpy. I felt like I had come up out of water and was able to take a breath while being held. I have had numerous experiences of coaching over the years, but this was very different. I have never felt quite so seen and heard. Each session with Janice results in something else releasing, something more let go of. And then it is integrated. Immediately. There is no greater magic then having a fellow human hold a sacred space for you to transition, allowing your own uniqueness to rise and shine. I truly look forward to every session!”

“I love our morning coaching sessions; gets me up and going.”

“It’s like having a personal trainer for your mind!”

― S. McCoy

“I want to tell you how much you have helped me, and how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to work with you.  Most people don’t ‘get me’ and so I haven’t clicked with many supports.  But you seem to understand me, in all of my messiness.  So thank you for being there for me as I try to find my way forward.  You have been a constant guide and I have felt you at my shoulder.”

“Know that you are a light and inspiration who has kept me afloat in dark waters.  With your support, the dark waters have been replaced by invigorating surf - not sure yet where I’m headed, but now I’m paddling instead of bobbing in this liminal space.  I think that’s progress, and you’ve helped me get there.”
